The Meža river rises from the depths of the Kamnik Alps on the Koroška side. It is inhabited by brown trout throughout its more than 40-kilometre long reaches. Every year, trophy individuals of several kilograms are caught. The grayling, while rare, also has its home here from Mežica downstream. In its lower reaches, some kilometres above the inflow into the Drava, chub, barbel and nase are present in larger numbers. Their size is much above the average for these fish species. The Mislinja river also flows into it in this part, which is a good trout water in its entirety. The grayling also inhabits the river from Slovenj Gradec downstream.
