This history path takes us over the oldest part of the city to the elevation above Postojna, called Sovič, where we can find the remains of the former castle Adelsberg. You can also see old well which provided water for the whole settlement. It is carved into flis south side of Sovič, which is rare for the casrt terrain. There are also bunkers from the war times, when Sovič used to be a strategic position. Adelsberg castle was supposedly build in the first half of the 12th century. In 1508, the castle was plundered by the Venetians, who occupied it for one year; it was heavily damaged by the 1511 earthquake and ravaged by the Turks in the 1570s; the final blow to the castle came when it was hit by lightning in 1689.

The 677 metre high Sovič has always been a favourite destination for the locals and visitors. Its paths are the first to be dry in spring, it is protected against the burja (local wind) and offers a delightful view. The view from Sovič extends across the roof ridges of Tržaška Street to the slope that leads to the railway station, the lower Kremenca (566 m) and further across the fields and their mosaic patterns to the filial church of St. Anthony of Padua in Stara vas. At the flag pole, where slovenian flag is hanging, we can see the remains of the church of Sv. Uršula. Among other things, also Roman coin and prehistoric ceramics were found, which tells us that the location was inhabited even before Christ. The noblemen built barn for the Lipizan horses under the castle, which were later on converted to hospital for infectious diseases. The remains still stand there.
