Take a journey back to the time of our ancestors at the Pleterje open air museum! Each of our buildings has a story to tell and together they constitute an important monument to Slovene traditional civil engineering and the 19th century way of life.
The focal point of the museum is
Kegljevich's house, built in 1833, with its black kitchen, double drying frame "toplar", pigsty, outhouse floor, water well, and outer lavatory.
Each building represents a certain characteristic type of national architecture, and at the same time bears witness to the local masters' knowledge, materials and building techniques of the period.
Pottery was a characteristic trade of this area as well. The potter's workshop is located in Banich's house, which is also home to the museum gift shop, where you can buy nice handmade pottery gifts and typical souvenirs from the Dolenjska region for yourself and your loved ones.
