In 1238 the Convent of the Dominican Sisters originated at this chapel. This Baroque building is decorated with seven altar paintings by the famous Austrian Baroque painter Johann Martin Schmidt from Krems. The most famous work of art in the church is the Roman pilgrimage statue of the Virgin and Child, which has a permanent place in the altar between the throne and the tabernacle. It is the oldest statue of the Virgin in Slovenia. In the choir stalls hang four paintings from the life of the Virgin which are the work of Valentin Mentzinger, and below the church are the famous "catacombs".
