Address: Sava River in Radece, 1433 Radeče
The tradition of wood rafting on Sava River spanned over 500 years, but sights of rafters transporting wood all the way to the Danube River in Belgrade completely vanished during and after the harsh years of World War II.
Rich historical and ethnographical heritage has not been forgotten though. The revival of tradition has taken off since Slovenia became independent and wood rafting is gradually establishing itself as a cornerstone of tourism development in the Community of Radeče
The highlight in terms of visitors represents the annual festival ˝Days of Rafting on Sava˝ (Dnevi splavarjenja na Savi), which traditionally takes place at the end of June.
Rafting activities are nonetheless conducted during the whole summer. A journey aboard a completely safe wooden raft for 50 persons is led by experienced rafters and takes about three hours. During this time visitors get acquainted with traditional habits of rafters, they get to taste the ˝rafter's gulash˝ and they even participate in a baptism of a new rafter. Prior arrangement is obligatory.
The programme is flexible and can be enriched by additional activities according to visitors' wishes. A visit of the thickest chestnut tree in Slovenia and a taste of sweets made out of its fruits, a swim in an outdoor swimming pool, a dinner in a traditional inn or a picknick in an unspoiled nature are always among visitors' favourites.
